Greg Bowes Knows Indianapolis Greg Bowes grew up in Indianapolis, where four of his 12 brothers and sisters still reside. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas and Brebeuf Preparatory Schools, earned a business degree from Indiana University and later, a law degree from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. After completing an advanced law degree at the Georgetown University Law Center in 1988, Greg returned to Indianapolis, where he and his wife Patti are raising their two daughters. They presently live in Pike Township.
Greg Bowes Has the Training to Be Your County Assessor
Greg knows how to manage the office of County Assessor, because he was trained in business management at Indiana University, and has managed his own law firm for the past 15 years. As a lawyer, he knows how to navigate Indiana's complicated property tax laws. He completed the training and testing necessary for the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance to certify him as a Level 1 and Level 2 Assessor-Appraiser.
Greg Bowes Knows Local Government
Greg has served his community for the past three years as a City-County Councillor. Each year the Council authorizes the spending of more than $1 billion to provide the services necessary to provide for public safety and other local government services. He has worked hard to appropriate only that amount of taxes that is necessary to provide those services in the most efficient way. With this experience, Greg knows how important it is to every taxpayer to pay only his or her fair share.
Greg Bowes Is an Experienced Attorney and a Hard Worker
Greg believes in hard work. Before becoming an attorney, he managed a fast food restaurant, worked in a union factory shop, and served as an Emergency Medical Technician. Since 1985, Greg has been a legislative assistant for physicians, an attorney for the Indiana Department of Insurance, and a Deputy Prosecutor. He has served more than 500 clients in his Indianapolis private practice since 1991, obtaining compensation for victims of crime and negligence. He represents persons accused of crimes, both at trial and on appeal, advises businesses, and assists individuals with estate planning and probate matters.
Greg Bowes Serves His Community
Greg’s volunteer record is extensive. He has been a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association, and served seven years on the boards of two homeowners’ associations. He has donated his services to the Indiana Civil Liberties Union, reviewing complaints for possible ICLU action, and was a board member for the Crooked Creek Multi-Service Center for two years. During 2003, he served on the Pike Township Board, which controls a budget of over $14 million.
Greg Bowes Developed Conflict Management Skills as a Soccer Official
Greg began refereeing soccer in 1983, and has trained and evaluated other referees for 15 years. He rose through the ranks to officiate at all levels of competition, including Division 1 college and 2nd Division professional matches.

Greg wants to apply his richly varied experience and training to serving the people of Marion County. He will ensure fair, efficient, and accountable property tax assessments for its citizens.
